Tilde Staff Inc. brings together a team of scientists, engineers, and business experts from MIT, UC Berkeley, UCLA, and Cal Poly Pomona who select, develop, fund, and initiate businesses applying technology to profitably improve society.
The arrangement
One process, applied to unrelated technologies.
The programs we take on do not share a scientific domain. What they share is the way they are run: a hard look at whether the science holds, a measured path from bench to instrument, and a product owner who has taken devices into production before.
Select
We qualify an opportunity against the physics and the market before any money is committed, and we say no when the mechanism does not survive the question.
Develop
Bench work, simulation, and instrument design proceed together, so a claim is measured rather than asserted.
Fund
We fund the work through the stage where a technology is still too early to sell.
Initiate
A proven technology becomes an operating business with a product, a customer, and a person accountable for both.

Electrochemistry and recognition chemistry
Electrocatalytic oxidation of small organic molecules, and recognition chemistry built onto electrodes for clinical diagnostics.
Instrument electronics and signal analysis
Embedded and digital hardware, machine learning, and numerical optimization applied to getting a small signal out of a noisy measurement.
Sampling and front-end hardware
Mechatronic design, hardware integration, and instrumented measurement, including systems engineering practice acquired at NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Human biology, validation, and quality
Study design and validation work, with Phase II and Phase III clinical studies coordinated under Good Clinical Practice and institutional review board oversight.
Commercialization and regulated release
Dozens of semiconductor and electrochemical devices taken from design to production release into commercial and FDA regulated laboratory environments.
